I was so touched by how you handled it and have now a new generation of Santas who will have the joy of giving at Christmas time . . . and hopefully all year (i.e. Easter, when teeth fall out, etc). You must be quite a guy! Thanks for sharing.

Wow Lisa, your son made it much longer than most, which is great. What was important to me was that this whole event became something special for my kids instead of another let down. Every kid that believes in Santa will reach this point, and it truly is a milestone in their life. As a parent, you can make it special and begin a tradition that gets passed for generations or you can just blow the whistle on the whole caper and move on. I enjoy the fun and spirit of it and the memories it will create, hopefully you can do the same.

Thanks for the comment mojo, but for the record, I didn't get my change.

You see...I didn't vote for Obama, and never would have. I still don't know who he is or what he may do. Its a mystery, but he evidently had the intelligence and charm to get enough voters drinking his kool-aid. But there is no Kool-aid drinking mustache on this old chap.

The whole premise of my post is how the word "change" was used by all of the politicians in the race as nothing more than a "hot" word that was empty and devoid of specific meaning, especially from the "clown" as you referred to him.

Laura, thanks for the response and the input. Unfortunately, in the restaurant business, like in life, there is no impression like a first impression. I have received the same feedback from other family and friends after discussing our experience. Good food, maybe even great food...but not a family restaurant for those with young pre-teen children.

You would be proud to know that I did use my mouth...and my voice as well, to request a children's menu, to which our very knowledgeable waiter advised us that there was not one. If there actually are child's menu items like you say then maybe it would nice if they were actually visible somewhere on the 90 page menu...OH WAIT! I have a GREAT IDEA....they could place the children's menu somewhere before all those pages of alcohol drinks. This is a genius idea...and it is free this time...I'm not even going to request a free slice of cheesecake.

Also, the restaurant here is mostly "bench" seating. They did not ask us what we preferred and it really didn't matter since there are very few booths and they were just not available.

Obviously, the prices in Texas are much different than yours, and quite possibly the menu as well. If I am ever in White Plains I will be sure to stop by your restaurant.

Unfortunately for you it seems like you've gone to the wrong Cheesecake Factory for a first time experience. Did they ask you for preferred seating like required in the restaurant? Once you walk in you are allowed to request a booth, and if you get to the table and find that it's not a booth, you still have time to change you mind and use your mouth to ask for one. But, if you did not specify who's fault is that? Secondly, even though there is no kids menu there are kids items that are not specified on the menu. Unfortunately again it seems as though the restaurant you went to didn't have a knowledgeable staff. Kids pasta, kids macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, pizza and french fries, BBQ chicken strips, and chicken or cheeseburger sliders are some of the things that The Cheesecake Factory have to offer children. There is even a kids sunday dessert!!!! They also make "baby plates" for children who are old enough to eat bananas and young enough to sit in a highchair. So, needless to say they do cater to families. Yes....the pizza and appetizers are big enough for kids to share, but if the staff was knowledgeable you would have known about other choices and no one would have been fighting! I feel sorry for your experience and wish it would have been as great as my experience at the Cheesecake Factory in White Plains, NY.

P.s. Entrees are never more that $10; unless ordering the Factory Favorites! And another secret...All new kids menu out MARCH!!! =] Good luck on your next experience!

I like your review of the book. My friend, who is a literature teacher at Texas A&M, asked me to weigh in on my opinion. I wrote a very short review but you basically said everything that I felt about the book. The writing style didn't bother me as badly as it did you, but I did notice the seemingly made-up words. I thought maybe I was just dumb and didn't know what they meant so I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who didn't want to look it up in the dictionary!

No doubt, I am sure it will confuse many. However, those that are confused by it were most likely confused prior to reading it. Anyone strong in their faith and convictions will not be so easily swayed by a book of this nature.

I do not necessarily agree with the message William tells in this book, but I do see the opportunity that this book creates within the Christian community. It cannot be denied that The Shack has sparked widespread debate amongst Christian scholars, etc., but it has also drawn the attention of many people who had become distant from the church. This is a good thing.

I assure you, the confusion was already there, and now there is an even larger audience...Clarity is the opportunity.

It is nice to know that I was basically lied to by Albertson's executive management. I am not surprised at all though. In an economy riddled with bailouts and failing companies, it takes no rocket scientist to see that the problems start at the very top of the executive flow chart.

I saw the demise of Circuit City coming over a year ago, and can foresee the same for Albertson's for all the same reasons.

Wow what a bad experience with albertsons, but it is common in this day.
About the "new" 4 sqaure rule they told you about...... It has been in place since I can remember and started with albertsons more than 15 years ago. so this was nothing 'new".
Just another way to calm down a customer and having to not do anything real about our customer service problem which is caused by no labor dollars for the stores.

How can you watch this and not cry.....this could happen to anyone's child. I really makes you think. How greatful I am that my children are healthy and happy with a beautiful home to live in. Sometimes we take it for granted when we have what we need and want. Thank you for sharing this with me. It has touch my heart.
